Paso Fino Horses

The Paso Fino Horse is one of the world's most exciting breeds giving the smoothest ride in the world and attracting many riders.

The gait of the Paso Fino Horses is unique and for those of us with bad backs, bad knees, and many other problems caused by years of riding, the Paso is the ideal choice. The movement actually eases stiffness in joints and promotes good circulation. There are many things you can do with the Paso Fino Horses. They are such good weight carriers and have superb stamina, so endurance is one of their talents.

The questions that we are most often asked is why are the Paso Finos so special, and why do you love them so much? The Paso Finos are very versatile, and easy to train. The thing with the Paso Fino Horses is that they touch your heart and once they have done this there's no getting them out of your system.

They are so loving and generous. They are small horses with big hearts and big personalities. In the years I have been around these horses I have never met one with any malicious tendencies. But you can never truly understand the magic of the Paso Fino Horse until you have ridden one. The Paso Fino Horse has an isochronal, 4-beat gait, which is totally natural. This is what makes these horses so amazing. As it is a natural gait, nothing of the movement is forced, making it a smoother ride.

Not only do the Paso Finos gait, but they can also trot and canter, which shows the versatility of the breed. The Paso Fino Horse is very balanced in gait and can carry an amazing amount of weight.

The three speeds of the Paso Fino Gait are:

Slow - FINO - the movement of the legs is very fast, however the steps are short and rapid. Therefore there seems to be a great deal of energy and activity, but a very slow forward movement.

Moderate - PASO CORTO - With the speed of a working trot, this gait covers the ground more as the steps are larger than the Fino movement.

Fast - PASO LARGO - This is the speed of canter. It is the fastest speed of the gait. There is further extension of the steps, which means they can cover more ground.

The Paso Fina Horse developed in Spain through the Barb, which produced the Spanish Jennet, and the Andulasian. Columbus transported the horses to what is now the Dominican Republic. Subsequent explorers took them to puerto rico, Colombia, Cuba, Panama and Mexico.

These stunning horses range in size from 13.2 hh to 15.2 hh and are in every colour.

The Paso temperament is kind and gentle. Once experienced, these horses become seriously addictive. We were the first to introduce these horses to Britain and we are the foremost stud with an internationally approved breeding programme.

We hope that after meeting them you'll love them as much as we do.

Why consider a Puerto Rico Vacation Rental?
If you are planning on visiting Puerto Rico for your vacation or corporate stay, an attractive alternative to a high cost hotel room is the rental of a private Home or Apartment. A hotel room makes sense for a short 3 or 4 day trip, but it can get quite uncomfortable to come to a hotel room after a long day; not to mention if there is a family involved, with privacy issues and the like. That is of course if you are a professional who virtually lives in hotels and is used to that sort of living due to constant business travel.

Recommendations for Puerto Rico Vacation Rentals
With a short term home or apartment rental you have the option of staying in a privately owned vacation home or apartment and enjoy the convenience of living in a private home during your stay. In many cases for far less than the cost of a stay in a hotel room, depending on the length of stay.

Vacation Villa owners at many of the high-end/luxury resort communities located throughout Puerto Rico (such as Sol Melia Beach Resort, Condado Plaza, El Condado, and Las Casitas Village) also include their vacation units in the resort's vacation rental inventory. These units are typically managed by the hotel located within the resort (a pre-set condo/hotel arrangement); or a licensed property manager located within the community, manages a number of rental units and takes care of all customer transactions and support. The daily rental rates for these units are typically higher, but the amenities are usually 5 star, with golf, pools, sport fishing, scuba diving, and restaurants all located within the resort community.

Vacation Home or Apartment rentals and some guest cottages offer full kitchens, or galley kitchens, with cooking utensils. Many offer other goodies such as TV's with VCRs, audio equipment, laundry facilities, and scenic views from a deck or a porch. Most mountain cottages offer basic amenities with few frills, but they are typically located in areas of extreme beauty however.

Paradors (esp. Paradores), like Villa Parguera in Cabo Rojo are small hotels or Inns located in areas that are either of historical significance or are popular tourist spots. Some offer rental units with full service rooms such as telephone, cable TV, and air conditioning.

Guest Houses and Inns like Dos Angeles del Mar Guest House in Rincon, or Mamacitas Guest House in Culebra, typically provide the same amenities as Paradors, but do not normally include individual phone access. They are also located near popular attractions and offer still lower lodging costs.

Vacation Rental homes and apartments/condos are privately owned, but made available to vacationers when the owners are not using them. These properties are clean and well maintained. Most if not all are located on the water, or a short walking distance to the water. There are a few being offered that are located hillside or in the mountains offering spectacular views of the ocean or mountain scenery. They are usually managed by a property manager or an individual whom the owner shares confidence.

Some very good reasons to take a Caribbean Honeymoon or a Romantic Caribbean vacation on the Island of Vieques in Puerto Rico

A Luxury vacation in Puerto Rico even a Caribbean Honeymoon on the Island of Vieques at the Hix Island House is something you really need to consider. It doesn’t even have to be a honeymoon, just check it out if you are looking for a romantic vacation somewhere in the Caribbean. You probably haven’t even considered Puerto Rico, and you should at least read up about it.

Hix Island House is the result of the vision of architect John Hix , who wanted to build a hotel which would blend in with the massive gray boulders on the island, so he built five open air concrete structures which are quite unlike anything you will see anywhere else, with some serious ecological considerations built in.

There are three geometrically shaped buildings housing twelve lofts and they are Casa Redonda, Casa Triangular, and Casa Rectangular, and then there is a small house called La Casita, and a grand house called La Casona which can be used for large functions like weddings or conferences.

It would be true to say that the concrete buildings with steel doors and wood shutters could give an impression of a military bunker, but one person’s aesthetic vision will differ from anothers, but they are designed to withstand even the wildest hurricanes. Of course it isn’t necessarily what a hotel looks like but what it has to offer that matters, but most guests use words like terrific, amazing when describing the architecture.

Hix Island House is designed for tranquillity, peace and quiet, so there are no telephones or televisions. Part of the eco principles involves heating by solar panels, and even the water collected and heated is twice used as it is directed to the fruit trees after humans have had their use from it!!

It is true to say that whilst the Hix Island House whilst lacking the creature comforts of a resort, still gives you a luxury vacation experience in Puerto Rico. This Puerto Rico vacation Spot is much more for the traveller with some adventure than the standard holidaymaker. The lofts whilst minimalistic have extremely comfortable beds, and you will like the pillows. . There is also a lovely outdoor shower, and the rooms are like the shower, totally private, and open air, so you will need to use the mosquito nets at night. You will find in the lofts some luxury amenities, such as Frette linens, sea-island cotton shirts, Marimekko fabrics, and comfortable deck chairs and hammocks.

You can have massages in your room or in the open air, and there is outdoor yoga classes, and fantastic views of the Caribbean from the pool, and most of the lofts. Each loft has a kitchen which are stocked with everything you need for breakfasts including delicious home made breads and locally grown coffee, plus the fact you will be brought fresh eggs every day for breakfast

As Hix Island House is on a hillside means a cooling breeze, and the thirteen acre site means it is nicely secluded, and completely rural. You still aren’t far from town, or the beautiful white sand beaches and bays of the south coast, and some of the best restaurants on Vieques are close by.

Finally the staff help to make Hix Island House the excellent place it is, and also the perfect Puerto Rico Vacation Spot for a Caribbean Honeymoon or a romantic escape. It is for people who don’t want boring hotels or designer rooms.
